I seem to had many of there songs stuck in my head. And I must say they are simply amazing and are now my 3rd favorite band. I like the album "The Crane Wife" Especially. They never cease to amaze me.

The Decemberists - The Crane Wife

This album has been been called the best indie album of 2006, and I will agree with them. With the opening track, “The Crane Wife 3”, The Decemberists give us a good feel of what is to come. The Decemberists are not too soft, yet not too heavy, having the perfect blend, which is just right to the ears. The album really displays its naked self on “The Crane Wife 1 & 2”. The 11-minute 19-second epic shows what the album truly is. Starting soft, and gradually becoming louder until finally hitting a climatic utopia and then dying down. Then a majestically-sounding acoustic guitar starts and fills the song with notes that send tingles through my body. I can’t really describe it, but there is something about The Crane Wife that really brings out strong emotion from within the music and lyrics.

Fucking love this band. "A Cautionary Song" makes me laugh every time. And "The Island" is a great song to listen to while driving... it's also my ringtone :D

Deff. an acquired taste. I hated them at first. The accordians are a litlte offputting initially. Did anyone go to the vocalist's solo tour? I was thinking about it, but decided not to.

I like Her Majesty more than The Crane Wife. I find The Crane Wife to have only two or three songs I like, Her Majesty has a couple more.
Especially Chimbley Sweep, that song rules.

So I just saw these dudes tonight, and it was fucking AWESOME.
I was really not expecting Colin Meloy to be such an awesome frontman, he was like goofing the fuck around all over the place and being just silly and ridiculous and cool. They also had an Obama 'Yes We Can/Yes We Did' chant during 16 Military Wives that was totally righteous.
And the opening band was really crazy

Anyone else seeing them on this tour?

I missed my chance at going, but did they play "the Mariner's Revenge Song" at the end of the show you were at? I hear it's something they do a lot, and the one time i did see them it was one of the highlights

no, they ended with 16 military wives and had a 'YES WE CAN/YES WE DID' chant during the end of it
the encore was sons and daughters and it was sick
