I can't see a metal thread anywhere (I checked the directory and everything) so I thought I'd start one.

Some bands I've been listening to a lot lately:

Sylosis - thrash influenced metal. I've posted them before and someone liked them, so here they are again

Gojira - French groove/death metal type band.

Bleed From Within - deathcore type band technically, they've now gone a bit more thrash/death metal influenced. Trust me, they're better than your average deathcore band though. I'm a big fan.

Protest The Hero - wonderfully technical prog-metal type band.

sorry if this thread already exists, I didn't see it anywhere.

i'm pretty sure there isn't one, so i added it on stretts' post.

i don't listen to metal anymore, really.
but, there was a brief period where i'd come home from work and listen to the acacia strain's "the dead walk" and play mario kart.

also, just because.

We'll talk about how we'll change but we will never follow through.

oh, Killswitch... They used to be so good. I really wasn't impressed by their self titled album. Isn't Jesse Leach back with them now?

I think i stopped listening to them after that album. And yes, Jesse is with them again.
Also, i always wanted to check out The Empire Shall Fall, the band with Nick Sollecito and Jesse Leach, but i always forget about it

The End Of Heartache was the album that was out when I started getting into metal properly, so I really like that album. Not sure if it's because of nostalgia or if it's a genuinely good album.

so do I. I'll do so tonight if I remember.

misread the band name as Oceano, thought "easy, they're deathcore"
Spoiler

then, saw that they were on Rise Records, and thought "post-hardcore or metalcore", and you could probably label them as both of them. Don't worry about getting too caught up in the classification though, the only people worse than metal fans about sub-genres are dubstep fans. I enjoyed the song though!

Ah, wasn't sure if people on here were genre nazis.

But yeah, Oceana is very enjoyable. Listen to their album Birtheater, it's beautiful.

Pallbearer is the sleepytime tea of metal.
So relaxing

I'd listened to a decent chunk of that Pallbearer album without even noticing - I'd just zoned out. Good stuff!

I usually don't like viking metal. Bands like Amon Amarth bore me. Turisas, however, are fantastic. They share the orchestral epic feel that draws me in to a lot of bands.
