This is a thread to discuss everything about the Smiths. I recently acquired the Smiths Complete on CD (All four albums as well as the 3 compilation albums and the one live recording). I had previously owned a best of collection and The Queen is Dead. I am overdosing on The Smiths right now and I am loving every minute of it.

It is incredible the amount of quality material this group released in their short four year life. The perfect mix between immediate pop and tounge in cheek, witty lyricism is striking.

I Know It's Over is one of the most heart tugging songs I have ever heard in my life. Morrisey dominates the vocal delivery.

Then again, if you are after something a little more immediate there is a wealth of material to turn to - including the bouyant This Charming Man

I am finding it hard to pick a fave album of theirs but i think it is an even split between The Smiths and The Queen is Dead

I just can't get over Morrissey's voice and how well it goes with Johnny Marr's guitar parts.

I discovered this song while readingThe Perks of Being a Wallflower

Also, "Please Please Please Let Me Get What I Want" is a phenomenal song.
"It is a truth universally acknowledged that a mad man in possession of a blue box must be in want of a companion"

A note on the track asleep

"It remains a fan-favourite, although it was only performed live once by the group (at Eden Court, Inverness, on 1 October 1985, the last date of the ‘85 Scotland tour), after a piano, which couldn’t be moved, was discovered on the wings of the stage during the sound check. Morrissey was apparently in a fetal position in the center of the stage by the end of the song."

wish I was there
