Not to be confused with Squid the Whale, Said the Whale is an outstanding band haling from Canada. Recently winning the Juno award for "best new group" these guys should dance on your eardrums (in a good way of course.)
This band has had a place in my musical heart for close to two years, so please check them out!

I've never heard of them, but this stuff all sounds good. I'm gonna have to pick some up. Any recommendations?

They only have two albums, and both are great, so it's hard for me to recommend one over the other.

Islands Disappear (2009)
Howe Sounds/Taking Abalonia (2008)

check out their tumblr to hear more... the tracks at the top are from Islands Disappear, the ones at the bottom are from Howe Sounds.

They have a TON of ep's. They record a holiday one every year and it makes me feel all snuggly and christmassy.

I saw these guys live last year with Mother Mother, absolutely incredible. The song "Islands Disappear" is so perfect, the drumming's incredible

Said the Whale played to a room of about 25 tonight. Such a sad turnout for a Juno Award winning band!
I got hugs.

Had a great time with them at the show, and afterwards at our house. Ben is seriously insane in a good way. The most active person I've ever met. I am now playing Words with Friends with Tyler.

My band played with these guys last night, and I couldn't believe how down to earth they were. They came to our place after the show and hung out really late! They're recording a new album right now, and they played a couple songs last night and it sounds amazing :)

So is this band named after a talking whale? Or are they named after a regular whale named "Said"?
