For the people not in the know, or simply just not 'hip' enough, mister James Blake is a young English lad producing/composing fantastic minimal/post-dubstep. In 2010 he released three fantastic EP's and as of two weeks ago his debut album (2011) can be found on the good ol' interwebs. I encourage you to check the guy out, because he's phenomenal. His cover of Feist's 'Limit to Your Love' might just be one of the best songs of 2010.

From the CMYK EP.

From the self-titled 2011 debut

Found it!
This album is pure sex, it should be called "SEX", because of all its sexiness.

I've been listening a lot to the Enough Thunder EP, lately.
It's very very very very very good.
I really love how his voice harmonizes in the electronic tracks. He also did a great job with (Bon Iver's) Justin Vernon in Fall Creek Boys Choirs, even if, in my opinion, it's the weakest track of the EP.
I was astonished when i discovered the cover of A Case of You was recorded live in a radio. (here you can find the original recording) He's really an awesome singer. I also dig the voice-piano stuff (especially piano) in Enough Thunder.
My personal highlight is Once We All Agree. It's so dark and sad and... beautiful!
I have to admit i was moved when i listened to it for the first time (maybe not only the first time...)
What are your thoughts, guys?
please be nice

You should really get the self titled (which is actually the only full lenght he did, so far). I'm listening to it right now. So sweet.
See if i can find you a link ;)

well I like Ifan Dafydd's music, and he apparently sounds a lot like James Blake. This means I'll probably enjoy it, right?

I think the dubstep that has come over to the US, and certain producers— who I can’t even be bothered naming— have definitely hit upon a sort of frat-boy market where there’s this macho-ism being reflected in the sounds and the way the music makes you feel. And to me, that is a million miles away from where dubstep started. It’s a million miles away from the ethos of it. It’s been influenced so much by electro and rave, into who can make the dirtiest, filthiest bass sound, almost like a pissing competition, and that’s not really necessary. And I just think that largely that is not going to appeal to women. I find that whole side of things to be pretty frustrating, because that is a direct misrepresentation of the sound as far as I’m concerned." -James Blake

i mean he's a good producer, but he just apes so many of James Blake's signifiers that i can't really take him seriously. you have the chops, do something original.

also if you guys are only fucking w/ his song-based stuff, you should check out some of his more dancefloor oriented singles. his s/t was one of my favorite albums of the last 5 years but i have to default to his singles.

this is the best remix of all time in my opinion

some of his newest stuff on r&s. 2 joyus.

and the ultimate
