I've known about this band for a while now, but, always felt they deserved their own thread.
They are absolutely fantastic, most definitely worth checking out if you like emo/punk with some post-rock. They've become one of my favorite bands in the last year.

yeah it's really good... seen this band on brian's blog and instatly fell in love. only the vocals gave me a hard time at first, since they are really not my cup of tea but now I can enjoy them.

Yeah, I got "Dollabills" to thank for finding this band, too.
"Summer Fences" is such a good album, I listened to it on a daily basis before
"The Echo and the Light" came out.

Echo&Light is so good. I love Summer Fences, but they really tightened up and concentrated their sound on the new album.

There's also a black metal band from NY called Castevet who is awesome as well.
This song's for you, wherever you might be. I pray that you stay golden and never come back home.

Music is catchy, vocals are average. Listening to Narrow Hallways I was pretty pumped until he started singing.

The best band.
I rarely listen to them and i keep not remembering about them, but everytime i put any of their music on i'm blown away by the beauty.

I think Summer Fences is better than The Echo and The Light
but, i think bike notes has to be my favorite song by them.
So good and so fun.

Ok, let me rephrase what i said months ago, more convincingly.

After casual listens for over a year, i'm finally fully into it. I get it now. CSTVT really is the best band. "Period".
I've been basically only listening to The Echo & the Light in the last two days, i think i've listened to it 6 times yesterday. It's so good. It's crazy to think about everything that happens in just around 30 minutes of music, most of the times very technical (in the best possible, very easy listenable way. not a show-off.). Everything is in it's right place. The vocals (by the way, i think the vocals are most of the time in tune, maybe not in perfect pitch, but they are. They just sound "weird" because of the very deep voice and the screaming.) are a very important part of the music, and they really make it more emotional and unique.
It remembers me of a gag from the Simpsons, in which Homer wants to get healthy and compresses several pounds of pasta into a powerbar. (it misses the first part but you can understand)
The Echo & the Light hits you like that spaghetti powerbar, and when you finish listening to it you just have to sit back for a few minutes to let your mind and body process the incredible amount of feelings and beauty you just listened to.
I can hardly think of other music that hits me and speaks to me like this (maybe 2 or 3 artists, but surely not more than that).
And, yeah, i have yet to revisit Summer Fences.

I feel like i really have to thank you, Dan, 'cause i don't think i would've ever discovered this band, or this whole musical genre if it wasn't for you.
please be nice

You absolutely need to listen to it again, listening to The Echo and the Light is only part of the experience.
The lyric in my signature is from the last line of the last song on Summer Fences.

I still think the genre has gone to shit in the last year, but finding bands like this, that i can share, that i love, will always be worth it.
