So, I've gotten enough gift cards together to buy either an Xbox One or PS4, what should I get? As far as now, I play my 360 way more than my PS3. I'm sure I'll eventually own both, but I wanna start with one and I just don't know enough people that have either of these systems to get good opinions. Ideas? Suggestions?
Depends on what you enjoy, really.

I own a ps4, and right now there's not a huge selection in terms of exclusives. Killzone: Shadwfall isn't very good, Infamous: Second Son was too short, and The Last Of US is on PS3. The games that are on both ps4 and xbox one generally look better on ps4, though. Bloodborne is currently the big exclusive on the horizon and that's still a few months away.

I don't own an xbox one so I can't really comment on it as much, but from what I've seen it has similar issues in terms of exclusives. If I were to get an xbox one it would probably be exclusively for Halo, at least in the near future. The xbox one is also weaker than the ps4, so multiplats look slightly worse. I don't really know what big exclusives are coming out soon, but Halo: MCC just came out, which could probably last me months, assuming they fixed the matchmaking issues I heard about.

This weekend there's two different game events happening where games are being announced. TGA is this friday, and then Playstation Experience starts on Saturday. You might want to wait until this weekend to see if those announcements sway your opinion any

Overall:
If you really like sony exclusives (Killzone, Uncharted/TLOU, Infamous) and play a lot of multiplatforms on console, ps4 is probably the better choice
If you really like MS exclusives (Halo, Gears of War, Forza, etc.) xbox is probably the better choice.

there's also the Wii U. If you like nintendo exclusives, go for it. It isn't getting many multiplatorm games whatsoever but it recently got a surge in exclusive games.

More than anything else, you need to ask yourself one question:

What consoles do my friends play?

If you have a lot of friends with XB1s, get an XB1. Lots with a PS4? Get a PS4! It's really that simple. Almost every game these days is enhanced by the ability to play with friends, so which ever console meets that need is the one you should buy. If you don't have any friends (LOL) or your friends are split, do what Holy said and pick based on the existing and upcoming exclusives.

Thanks for the help guys! I usually sway towards Xbox exclusives, but in the past all of my friends had 360 so we played a ton of Gears. Now, my friends are split between Xbox One and PS4 so maybe I'll choose which one to get based on which of my friends I like better.

Replaying one of my favorite games of all time. ICO.

I love that game so much. Gave a vibe that was so eerie and mysterious.

I wish I had known about ICO during the PS2 era, I still haven't played it. SOTC was probably my second favorite game on the PS2 but I never heard about ICO until years latr.

I actually have the ICO SOTC collection. Still shrink wrapped. I have no clue why I haven't played those yet.

Anybody playing The Witcher 3? Wonderful game, I highly recommend it. Just got done playing the hell out of Bloodborne, which I highly recommend as well since it is one of the best games I have ever played.

E3 was crazy

I mean seriously, FFVII remake, The Last Guardian, Shenmue 3, Nier 2, Horizon, Dark Souls 3, Xbox One backwards compatibility, Halo 5 looking like it might actually be decent.

Just give me the new Fallout and I am set. Honestly, Fallout 4 and Dark Souls 3 will keep me occupied for a long while.

Also just finished playing a not-so-recent indie game by the title Thomas Was Alone. Very good puzzle platformer with excellent writing. Doesn't take its self too seriously, and yet it had better character writing/development than most triple-A games. And all the characters are just blocks, so it's kinda magical that they bring the characters to life with the writing. I definitely recommend checking it out.

I just finished Child of Light like ten minutes ago. It was a lot of fun, with really enjoyable characters and writing. Also the whole game (dialogue, plot, objective reminders) is set in rhyme, so that's fun.

Only complaint is that it seemed like the end happened very quickly when it came about. Like the last two boss battles were consecutive, and it all felt very sudden given the flow of the rest of the game. I still really liked it though, and if you're a fan of turn-based RPGs I totally recommend it.

I actually just started Peace Walker, I love it so far, I completed MGS1, Snake Eater, and Ground Zeroes. I loved the way GZ played, even though it was ridiculously short, so I'm excited to get my hands on PP... Mad Max: Fury Road also comes out tomorrow, and Act 4 comes this Friday... This is going to be an amazing week.

I made this while waiting (no pun intended) for MGSV today, it's super rough because I didn't capture any of my own footage and I did it in like an hour. I made it because of the game being anti-war and Wait seems to be about someone (the boy maybe?) having a pretty cynical outlook after WWI. It definitely is far from my best editing but I figured others here might enjoy it.

Yeah, that's what I've read. I'm probably going to play it simultaneously with The Phantom Pain. The more MGS, the better.

Holy crap, that's pretty sick for a rough cut, I just shared it with a gaming group on Facebook. :D
