Is there any possibility of officially changing the band's name to "The Rear Thunder"?

As someone who does not and will not ever play bass, I still agree.

Can you give some back story as to how you came to be involved with the band?

Then, as Casey has done so as well, some beard growing tips please.

I hope to set an example. You know, for children and stuff.

Haha, great thread name.
I don't think I will adapt the third cat, to Silver's dismay.
I actually have to check though, but my step-grandmother may be interested in a companion.

Probably not. But, you'd have to go to the source for that sort of stuff. I am not actually a 'member' so to say. I am just a touring guy, so any name changes and such are things that I don't really deal with.

Basically, my metal band recorded drums at the Dear Hunter's studio when they were located in Providence. This is the studio they did Act III at. I ended up befriending Nick, cause we were both around during tracking. Long story short, a few years later, TDH needed a bass player, and I was recommended.

Beard growing tips: Patience and Persistence is what I tell everyone. Don't get frustrated if you have a splotchy beard. The length will overcome that, eventually. It will be itchy for the first 15 days, but that's it. Keep at it, and don't shave.

interesting. i was a "nothing but metal" guy until i heard act III and it changed my whole outlook on music. now when i go back and listen to my favorite metal bands like machine head, it's sort of lost it's appeal to me.

has playing/do you think playing with the dear hunter for the last few months has or will change your musical style at all when you go back to your original band or have you performed in different genres of bands in the past?

a metal dear hunter-like band would be the shit. just saying.... B)

Yeah, I was never (and still am not) a metal guy. I just had the idea to start a metal band one day cause I never had played it. I was best friends with one of the best metal singers, I knew a great metal guitar player, and I had a great drummer that can adopt to anything, so I figured, why not? My approach to metal was very unconventional. Metal changed the way I listen to lots of music and also influenced me in other genres. I have definitely been adding more polyrhythmic stuff in my power trio and pop/rock progect. Actually, my metal band (it's The Empire Shall Fall, btw) is what really taught me how to hear/feel polyrhythms. I knew how to play in odd times before, but not as intricately.

As far as playing in TDH influencing my playing, I think anything I have done has influenced my playing. I had been a fan of TDH for a while, so just because I liked them to begin with, they had influenced me in ways, I am sure. I am not sure what ways they have or will influence me, but I'm sure it's there. One thing is for sure, I like making music a lot more conceptual, these days. I almost feel like all releases should be conceptual.
