Any guesses as to what is going to happen with "trial by combat"? Who is going to fight? Who is going to win?

Part of me thinks Bron is going to fight on behalf of Tyrion like he did when that crazy Stark Aunt had him captured. And wouldn't Jamie have to fight on behalf of the king? So the very guy that re-trained Jamie to fight would have to fight him for real this time.

Another part of me thinks that Jamie will fight on behalf of Tyrion, but I have no idea who against.

But honestly I don' think anyone is actually going to fight. Tyrion's speech made it seem like he is going to fight, but that seems impossible to successfully pull off. Unless he fights the current king.

Clearly I have no idea what's going to happen.

I loved Tyrion's speech as well, he's by far my favorite character. I'm not sure who will end up fighting who, but I don't think Tywin will let anyone fight in Tyrion's place, I think he'll make Tyrion fight. If Tyrion dies I'm really gonna be bummed. I know they kill everyone off in this show, but I'm not gonna be happy if he dies.

Excellent unexpected twist! Prince Oberun (sp) will fight for Tyrion!

For the most part, this felt like a filler episode.

Yeah, not too much happened this week, but I do love that Prince Oberyn will fight. I fucking hate every Lannister sans Tyrion and I hope Oberyn starts exacting some revenge. That fucking Petyr is gonna be a real problem for anyone he runs into. It was super pedo when he told Sansa that she could've been his daughter in another life, then kissed her. Dude is just a creep, but he plays the game better than anyone. He and Tyrion are the smart ones, they will end up competing for the kingdom at some point hopefully.

I love that they keep making us like a character, then hate them again.

I hated Jamie for obvious reasons at the start. Then I started to like him again as he connected with Bri. But then he has sex with his sister and I remember why he's a scumbag.

Now with Little Finger... I was neutral to him for a while. Then I loved him for killing Geoffrey, but hate him for kissing Sansa.

I completely agree Derek. I've always hated Little Finger, but loved when he killed Geoffrey. I feel the same about Jaime Lannister too. I couldn't believe I started to like him and feel sorry for him when he was good to Bri and Tyrion, but then the whole incest thing happened again and you remember what an absolute turd he is. I also have a love/hate thing with the Hound.

True story. Is it bad that I hate Cersei so much that I didn't even feel bad for her?

We are always reminded that in their world (as in our own) there are no clear cut "good guys" or "bad guys," just people living their own lives their own way.

That rape doesn't happen in the books. So it's fucked up for any number of reasons, primary because seriously people STOP ADDING RAPE but also it completely fucked his redemption arc.

I hope to set an example. You know, for children and stuff.

It did fuck up his attempt at redemption, but could he ever really redeem himself?

People want it so bad to be a redemption arc but really his arc is not an arc of redemption. We just get to see more things from his PoV. And people who do "evil" things don't generally think of themselves as the bad guys. Plus everyone does good and bad things.

Cersei is not pure evil either as many people make her out to be (lol but I love Cersei so I'm biased too)

Also the rape did happen in the books, but it was less clear. In the books we see everything from Jaime's PoV. And Cersei keeps saying "not here, not now" and eventually she says something along the lines as "quick" as to get it over with soon because maybe she doesn't want it. It also says something along the lines "no matter what Cersei said Jaime did not hear her anymore"

GRR Martin even said that it was unclear if it was or wasn't rape in the books because we saw it from Jaime's PoV.

1 week hiatus before new episode :/

This show just never lets me down.

Such a great battle for sure. And now I have absolutely no idea what is going to happen to Tyrion (Tyrian sp?).

The ONE THING that I was really looking forward to was the Sansa - Arya reuniting. Guess we gotta wait another week for it.

I actually read a big spoiler about Oberyn's fight before it happened: I knew that someone would get their eyes gouged out. One problem - I misread the spoiler and thought that Oberyn would gouge Gregor's eyes out, so once Gregor was downed I was expecting Oberyn to fuck him up big time. You should've seen the look of shock and horror on my face when I realised that I'd got it all wrong.

My god that was so fucking brutal though. I felt queasy.

And yeah, it's spelt Tyrion.
