Hey Casey. My name is Dave and I've met you twice now, more recently at the Crazy Donkey show back in Feb. I told you that you were hands down the greatest musician I've ever seen, and you told me not to say that... But, it's still true. HMPH. Anyway.

I have this song by you that isn't titled, and I'm not sure if it's a cover or not or an original. I was discussing this with Vincent in the "Songs TDH should cover" topic. He led me to believe it might be an original because he says he knows that you also play banjo, which is used in the song. I've searched the lyrics and can't find anything, so I'm wondering if you'd be able to identify it for me, and maybe discuss it a bit. It's such a myterious song compared to everything else you've written. Very different style and everything. Here's a link:

Well there were the demos which included Brazil, Paycheck, The War of All Against All (Acoustic), Unison. So none of those. There was also Saints. And from what I recall he said one of the demos was a folk song but this sounds like just Casey so I doubt it's that.

well the title says track 6 so act 3 is a possibility. just cant find a way it would leak w/o the guys knowing. so it mightve been an old act II demo or possible song for a random ep.

My hypothesis is that it's a song written/recorded after returning to California post-TREOS. Reminiscing how it was good to leave home, but now that he's back, no one seems to wonder about what he was doing with his life for those years, despite the various hardships he endured. But this doesn't phase him, because he has grown from the experience.

This sound like a song that would end Act II. Hell even the story of The Dear Hunter.

Because each act can end on its own.

this song was written and recorded when I took my first trip home, while still in treos in 2004, before the ms. leading demos had even been recorded. My father purchased a banjo and I clunked around on it for a bit. It is a pretty embarrassing song.

I was sick when I recorded it- but I don't think that is an excuse for why the vocals suck so bad.

it was also the same trip when I recorded the acoustic version of the war of all against all.

Ah. Well thanks for replying. For the record, I wouldn't have known you were sick at all when recording, I've heard it several times now. Oh well. It's just interesting, because you've never really said anything about it at all. I don't even know how I got it, I forget. I have it in an "album" on my media player mixed with the original titled Page Glass on Sand and another recorded version of Camera.

Does it have a name or just the mysterious track 06? I'd like to name it

Sorry I let it loose to the whole forum, haha. I didn't know you viewed it as embarrassing, but I appreciate an answer. Though not my favorite track, it's still pretty cool, nothing at all to be embarrassed about though. I love anything you write and record.

Hey, I'm also wondering, just out of curiosity. You recorded This Armistice acoustic and The War of All Against All acoustic at separate times right?
