I know there is already a thread about this in the introduction area, but I wanted to make a separate thread to indicate that the rehearsal process is over and media will soon be available. We have filmed all the rehearsals and dress rehearsals and I'll looking into having someone edit all of it into a full length musical "film" that will be available for download and streaming online.

So check back! It might be awhile for the video to be made, but we have plenty of pictures of the performances on the Red Hair Productions facebook page. There is also more information at DearMsLeading.blogspot.com, so check that out as well!

I've had an amazing time with this project, and after our first workshop yesterday, I believe we will take this project further, possibly to other cities if the demand is great enough.

Today is our last workshop/show for the season! Hopefully it won't be the last that The Dear Hunter takes on a theatrical life.

Thanks!

Just wanted to clarify that while this story is taken directly from Act II, we changed quite a bit... For instance, the Oracles are recurring characters. If you check out the pictures, I think you'll be able to pick them out pretty easily...

The workshopping process was a huge success. We ended up needing to postpone the show to try and fit more people in freestanding seats. Unfortunately, someone sat in front of one of the cameras, so we don't have as much footage as we'd like to work with. Still, a wonderful journey and such an amazing time.

I have been talking with my codirector and we decided to take this further. We are going to have another workshopping process, but I do not yet know when. We also have someone interested in getting a pro-grade camera for filming it next time (he's looking into a GL1 or something similar). I'll be taking a look at the video footage as soon as finals are over and I have graduated (less than a week!).

Someone wrote a little review/spiritual commentary on the workshop (she got a few details incorrect, but overall it is accurate)! She is the mother of the actor that played "The Dear Hunter". Once we get the video created, there is another play reviewer that wants to watch it and write a review/commentary. Very exciting!

Depending on what strings we can pull, we may get to do the show as a main-stage production or take it to another theatre to workshop further. I would absolutely LOVE for TDH enthusiasts to provide feedback, since the show was essentially created for you guys/gals and Casey. It's been fun. :D

Take that person outside and shoot them.

I hope to set an example. You know, for children and stuff.

I haven't posted any new information of media in a long time, much longer than I anticipated or wanted. Some things have changed, so I wanted to tell everyone just what is going to happen with this project.

First and foremost, we are not going to upload the entire video anymore. This is partially due to not enough good footage for the entire show and inadequate miking, but we also don't want to ruin the experience for anyone. The project essentially became a workshopping process and we learned so much, specifically on what would make the story more accessible for a theatre audience. We are keeping all this information and may eventually put it to use... on a slightly more ambitious show.

That being said, I am going to work on a teaser video. My cast and crew worked too hard to not be seen by everyone that appreciates The Dear Hunter and the magic that Casey has created presented on stage, so you will be able to see the show in some capacity! I am not the best video editor in the world and I am working with about a hundred gigs of 720/60p video, so it may take some time. However, I did get an i5 laptop for the video editing process, so I am taking this seriously. It will take some time. In addition to my meager editing abilities, I also wanted to studio record the vocals for the teaser, but I have since moved West, so it limits which songs I can choose from. Plus, I'm vacationing in Vegas. I love you guys and I love this project, but come on... Vegas!

If any hardcore fans would want to see the entire show, I don't mind showing it to you in person. I would love to meet more TDH fans! Though I'm currently in Vegas, I'll soon be in the Hollywood/Southern Cal area, so you West Coast people can have a chance to see the videos!

Thanks to anyone that cares enough to read these posts and thank you for your patience. I'd love to be able to put something like this as the priority in my life, working on it constantly (and getting paid to do so ^_^ ), but for now it is just the beginning of something. It may take some time, but I PROMISE you all that I will have a video teaser!

Take care, everyone!

Grr, you people and your moving west!

Can't wait for the teaser. I know how long video editing takes (which is why I don't do it anymore)

I hope to set an example. You know, for children and stuff.

Well, it took me a few hours today (mostly because I'm very new to this and I kept changing what I wanted to convey mid-edit), but here is at least a little footage to whet your appetites. Consider this a look into our Ms. Leading.

I like! Though if someone didn't know the story this would really just look like a porno. See first sentence.

I hope to set an example. You know, for children and stuff.

Ahhh, it's supposed to say "The One that Didn't Fold," referring to The Dear Hunter from Ms. Leading's perspective.

Thanks for the heads up! Fixed it. :)

This looks awesome! Seriously, it seems phenomenal. My friends and I are actually in the process of something similar. It's basically the script for a larger scale production, that will hopefully have all 6 acts in it eventually. It's mostly just wishful thinking combined with a lot of free time, but I'm glad to see that this actually can happen. Really, it sounds like what you did was great.
