Hello. My name is Johnathon Frazier. I am a Modern and Cultural Anthropology major at NYU in New York City.

Unfortunately, I am not here to discuss the music of The Dear Hunter (which I actually find fairly trite and uninspired), but rather to observe and note the mindset of individuals such as yourself and many others who consider themselves a part of this 'scene' who are easily deluded into a sense of exclusivity when you purchase and listen to a record with major label backing behind it. It's for a thesis I'm preparing called 'The Mirage of Rebellion'.

So anyways, simply carry on with your discussions here. I will simply be noting them, although I might occasionally chime in if I can find something worth opining about.

Thank you for your time, and happy posting!

Sincerely,
Johnathon Frazier.

Im curious to know what you define "this scene" as. This is a serious inquiry, because I don't think I've ever consciously considered myself to be apart of any sort of scene.

Oh and APPARENTLY this must be your first message board. You are in for a treat, my friend. I don't know if this is the best forum for interesting observations of the behavior and interactions of people on band message boards, but you might get a taste. I can tell you however, if you scoff at this form of communication, you are in for some serious mindfucks when it comes to the human soul and the connections you can make.

Yeah, he probably won't even come back. I love people who think they are better than everyone. It is hilarious. His paper sounds like a piece of shit anyway, "The Mirage of Rebellion"? So he's writing a cliche', and apparently ignorant piece of literature about the scene and people who like the same music and somehow to him they appear to be rebelling? Dude is a vegan. AKA a close-minded, presumptuous, pompous stiff who doesn't even have the audacity to realize that just because he thinks The Dear Hunter is - how he oh so eloquently put it - trite and uninspired - that that is what they are.

Well fuck you and your stupid name, JOHN A THON. In fact, you are fucking wrong. Trite? Are you kidding me? Tell me one fucking band that is like The Dear Hunter, other than TREOS. It is a very original band, and whether you LIKE them or not, they're not fucking commonplace and if you think that then you are a dumbass and know nothing about music, and ESPECIALLY nothing about the scene.

Secondly, they aren't uninspired, either. In fact, you're dead wrong about that, too. The Dear Hunter is a FUCKING STORY. Whether it chooses to be good or not, it's still INSPIRED
BY
THE
STORY.
It has no choice. It has a basis.

So take your lame project elsewhere and stop acting like you are better than everyone when you are truly a plain old, boring fuck. Just a piece of advice that may better you in life.

it's people like you who truly piss me off. Who know how to talk and sound good and get their way in life when they're really just spewing bullshit that people WASTE their time listening to. I'm angry NYU accepted you and that you are even given opportunities in life when so many people would use it more wisely than writing BULLSHIT PAPERS ABOUT THINGS THEY KNOW NOTHING ABOUT AND ARE BORING AND UNINSPIRING AND TRITE.
